With back to school just around the corner, ( how did that come around so quickly?) you might want to start to think about getting your home ready.
Not only do you need to get your kids all ready with their kit for back to school. You also need to get you home in order for all the bags, equipment and paperwork headed your way.
With this in mind, here are some of our favourite back to school home prep projects you can do to save time and money.
Back to School Home Prep Projects
A dedicated area for coats, shoes, backpacks etc…
One of the first places that end up messy and unorganised when the kids return to school is the hallway. Kids love to run in and dump their stuff anywhere in their urgency to get on with their console or playtime.
A great way to combat this mess and stay organised is to create a mudroom in your home.
Even if you don’t have a complete room in your home you can turn into a mudroom, creating a small space somewhere to house all your coats, shoes and backpacks will help ease the mess and minimise the “I can only find one shoe,” mornings.
Some of our favourite projects include:
Ikea Hemmes Hack from House by Hoff
DIY Mudroom Storage Cubbies by Ugly Ducking House
Entryway Hall Tree Bench by Angela Marie Made
Now you’ve got all your coats, bags and shoes organised, next comes the day to day clothing. It’s not too bad if your children wear school uniform, but if not it can be a bit of a nightmare. If your organised ahead of time you can limit the “You’re not wearing that to school arguments.”
Here are some of our favourite ideas on how to organise your kids school clothing:

Days of the Week Closet Organizers by Uncommon Designs
Clothes Organisation using Plastic Draws by Kortney Brady
Family Command Centre
Ok, so the kids are sorted. But what about all the homework and paperwork that comes home with them?
This is where a family command centre comes into its own. You can dedicate a large or small area to this and create it in whatever ways suit you and your family.
